Rachid B
Rachid B, the artistic name of Rachid Bahri (Asilah, Morocco, 1976), arrived in Madrid in 2000 on an artistic visa to take part in a group exhibition, and has lived in the Hortaleza neighbourhood ever since. A trained visual artist, music came later and almost by chance, when a neighbour — producer David Rodríguez (La Estrella de David, La Bien Querida) — heard him playing guitar and convinced him to record. The result was 'El Ghorba' (Discos Centeneros, 2025), a debut released at the age of 50, sung entirely in Darija — the Moroccan Arabic dialect — and built on folk, blues and North African musical tradition. The album broke into the top 10 best Spanish records of 2025 in outlets such as ABC, El Periódico de Cataluña and Hipersónica, a remarkable feat for an independent release of just 200 vinyl copies.
